Love the Skin You're In Day 12

July Challenge - Love the Skin You're In Day 12
Today we're going to go for a little longer workout with a 50 minute "BalletPilates" class. It starts with fundamental ballet training followed by some mat pilates work. No extra equipment is needed, except a comfortable place to do your mat work. BalletPilates is all about having the grace of a ballerina and the strength of an athlete.

Your core strength is crucial to your physical health as your core is what holds us upright and strong.
When you bend to pick something up, you engage your core. When you walk, you engage your core. When you reach to grab something on a high shelf, you engage your core. But when we think of working our core, we focus on sit ups and crunches. To build a strong core you need to exercise a variety of muscles from your hips to your shoulders. Both Ballet and Pilates focus on strengthening your core, so you are getting the best of both worlds with this workout today!

If you don't have the time for a 50 minute workout today, you can opt to take a 20 minute walk instead and follow it up with a short period of stretching and crunches/sit ups. Just make sure that whatever you do today, you are engaging your core as that's what we want to focus on today!

For those who have another twelve minutes, we are offering you a 12 Minute Split Stretch.  Stretching is super important, so we want to encourage you to integrate it into your workout regularly.  This video will increase your overall flexibility; not everyone will accomplish the splits.  The video offers beginner modifications.
